Lowrance troubles .. Out of Memory?

I was out trying everything out today and my depth finder / GPS said it was out of memory and would not allow me to add any way points.

It said to clear out my trails and other things but the only things I have sved is about 60 waypoints. I cleared out everything but the way points (there were no trails or anything else saved but I did it anyway) and still can't save anything.

I checked the internal memory on the unit and it said only 50 percent.

Also -- for the first time ever it starts up by showing a complete make of North America and it never did this before. It also shows the outline of my map area and I can zoom in and use it ... but just can't save on it.

I tried to shut it off and styart againand still nothing.

I have the 27c -- it is about 3 years old.

Any ideas?

The north amerian map thing must have something to do with it because it has never shown up like that before.

Anyone have any ideas?

My brother had the same issue I'm sure with his 522. He spent a bunch of time on the phone with L and even sent the unit in. I don't think he ever really got it resolved and he ended up buying a new unit from the bird this spring.(This is not a bash Lowrance thread, I own one and am happy). I know his issue was very similar to yours and he is going to use his on the front of his boat so I will find out what they did to fix it or make it workable and respond.

Go into your map section and make sure that it is using the right map!

Could also try re-orientating and rebooting the unit.

Did you do a undated of any type recently, last fall or this spring? It may have added new junk and crowded the available internal memory?

You need to see exactly what it's holding in it's internal memory...redundant junk or something you need.

No I have not done any updates -- and it only shows the memory ad 1/2 full????

Just talked to a guy at Lowrance -- he was not very helpful -- basically hard restart and if that doesn't work then software update.

If not then send it in.

Man -- that stinks.

Back up your points to a chip first, and then Hard Boot it....and hope for the best...good luck.

The bored worker at Lowrance was correct -- the update fixed it and it works now!
