I find it hard to believe no one has commented on this story from last night's Channel Five news!
Below is the text of the story from the station's Web site.

Fishermen catch Cayman in Fridley

FRIDLEY - A couple of fishermen landed a big surprise over the weekend.

The two men were fishing in the Mississippi River underneath the Interstate 694 bridge Sunday morning when one of them pulled in a cayman.

Later that day, a Twin Cities reptile expert showed it off to folks at the Renaissance Festival in Chaska. She said she believes the former owner bought the cayman as an exotic pet, but later dumped it in the river.

The reptile is about 5 years old and extremely sick. It will likely be put to sleep.

694 bridge. That's my back yard almost. What is a cayman? I thought you wrote caveman like Capt CaveMan, but is a cayman a little alligator?

Yeah, it's an alligator. There are pitcures of it on 5's site. (kstp.com)
Personally, I'm a little suspicous of this story. A couple guys catch a gator and it ends up at the Rennaissance Festival?
Sounds fishy. (Pun purely intended.)

Is'nt it odd what some people will do to either save a few dollars, or falsely appease their conscience?

Whoever leaves these tropicals loose, knows **** good and well that they cannot survive the cold up here!

If they have the pet in the first place, weither it be a Crocidilian, a lizard, a Pirhana, whatever, they know have to have a knowledge of the animal and that includes it's preferred climate conditions!

These goofs are probably PEATA people, or some other kind of tree hugger and letting the animals go is equivelent to torturing them, because they die a slow death in an alien habitat!

Let enough exotics go and maybe at some point, they will evolve and maybe the cold won't kill em and maybe when Suzie Sweetness, or Barry Nice, comes down to let Wally Gators little nephew go, Wally will greet them!
