buy a canoe without the Registration card

I keep finding canoes without the watercraft registration cards but can get a bill of sale. Talked to a boat dealer and they said the DMV doesn't seem to worry much on canoes, and a bill of sale would be fine. I just would like to buy one I came across this weekend and cant call the DMV until Monday.

You should be fine with a bill of sale. As far as I know, canoes dont have titles.

I should say the county license center. My boat registration says Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and I register and renew my boat there.

I went to get tags at the DMV for a free old canoe that I repaired and painted for hunting. They told me I didn't need tags if it was going to be used just for hunting. I got tags anyways for river fishing and had no idea of the make of the canoe. It is now known as a coleman canoe and I have tags.
