DARK30
Easter weekend. The water was a little on the high side but clean. The fish were biting pretty good. It was nice to go spend time with my old friend the Root River. More videos at HSOshow.com™ Looks like this rain today has got the gauge spiking...at least the streams go back down faster. itchmesir
I image the Root is pretty high right now(Sorry.. haven't been south in about a week).. but if you go to Preston.. Camp creek has a lot of accessible spots from the bike path...here is a link to Accessible Trout Streams...http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/fishing/trout_streams/accessible.html
DARK30
Camp Creek is a neat little stream and is easy to fish (all c&r). The river itself through Preston offers plenty of browns and plenty of spots to try your luck. Preston will host its own "Trout Days" the weekend of May 21st. Acemac
Are the special regs on those maps year round or is that only before opener?
ted4887
All the regs you see on those maps are in effect right now. Winter season has a different set of regs, and only certain creeks are open to fishing. Pay attention when you pull up to a stream, as at most access points you will find a DNR sign that states clearly the regulations that are in effect. I'll second that, make sure you pay attention to the regs as they differ from stream to stream. As for the streams I've always been a fan of Trout Run, and Forestville area. Trout Run because it is artificial only and Forestville because I took my first every fly fishing course and caught my first trout there. Acemac
I see a few good places I want to try on trout run but am I wasting my time with spinning gear if I can't dunk a worm. Guess you can still use gulp they make a few great twisty tails that I have had lots of luck with
goblueM
oh you definitely aren't wasting your time with spinning gear, sans wormstry out the smallest two sizes of husky jerks, or some larger spinners. great big-fish baits
ted4887
The only bad spots that you'll find on Trout Run are the places that are busy. That place produces A LOT of fish.
Acemac
there is some bigger fish in there or all small trout?
goblueM
there ARE bigger fish, but there are many better spots to catch a 20 incher
Walleyed_Trout
True, better spots to get a 20" if that's what you are looking for. Still some nice 12-15" fish in Trout Run.
