When do bullheads/carp start biting?

Bullheads are early spawners.

As soon as the ice is out they head for the shallow mud and creeks. They also tends to fallow other spawning fish like walleye up into the shallow sand and gravel at night. Then on to the shallow muddy silt that warms quickest in the sun. Reeds and bull rush areas are key spots in creeks.

Fish them with crawlers and pinched off minnow heads and you will catch tons.

Carp are biting... willingly, on pretty much any presentation I've used in the past two weeks.

Aberdeen hook with a worm or crawler has caught the bulk, but corn has produced as well.

Haven't seen a bullie yet this year though.

I start catching carp when the ice is still on the lake. Just fish the inlets where the water is moving. I have also caught bullheads right after ice out. Corn works, but i have had better luck with worms in the spring.

I'm getting mine in the Mississippi River. Just find a river/creek mouth or a big patch of slack water.

That's pretty much what I've been looking for.

The tricky part is finding a spot like this with the water up so high... all of my favorite places are flooded for sure.
