I am not familiar to that make and model but a I have never seen one that you couldn't do that to. You may have to save the track (trail) first. Reference your manual. It is available on line if you don't have it.

Out of curiousity, why do you want to turn off the trails? I like being able to see where I've been ---- where it's safe to run, where I've been fishing, how much I hit certain areas by how many trail lines I have there, where I hooked fish, etc.

Al & Ed:

I'm with you on advising people to read their manuals; lots of the issues folks have are addressed in their owners' manuals if they'd just read them. However, in this case what the original poster is looking for is a way to TURN OFF the track-making function. That can't be done with the HB 898c SI. You can CLEAR the current track, but as soon as you do, it starts drawing a new track. There is no way to turn off the track-making function.

"You can not deselect "Show Current Track" in the menu function?"

I can't find anything in the manual that shows that option.

"Or select transparent in the track display color options?"

Not much detail in the manual about that and I've never tried that function. My boat's out getting a cover made right now, so I'll have to check that out later this week. I hope you're right, even if I'd have to admit I'm wrong.

My apologies, I certainly figured there was a way to disable tracking. I have become familiar with about a dozen different makes and model gps's and all had that feature. I guess that is a bad deal.

I spoke to the Hummer Rep on this the other day...yup...you can not turn it off.

But, you an change the color to make the trail less bothersome to you.

I thought it had a translucent option but I found on further inspection it did not...so I was wrong there..sorry. My Garmin has these options and I got them mixed up in my head. Just too many units on the market to keep up with I guess?
