HSO's "Get the L.E.D. Out" Elk River MN Catfish Gathering April 30

Water appears to be setting up nice. Thanks for the updates Brad and guys. smile I have been just looking above at the downstream area and have not been able to walk the walk, but after fishing down their for years you get to just know when it is good or not. grin Have not looked at the forecast but if the temps do not drop, the rain does not start, fish should be ready to be caught.

Yes, we are more than willing to share and help. smile Bring anything and my guess is there might be an extra pole or two to be used if your setup for some reason does not work out. Everything mention should be just fine.

just looked at the national weather service site and it appears that on saturday there is now a chance of rain and thunderstorms. saturday night there is only a chance of rain the thunderstorms should be gone by the evening. I guess it will be 2 years in a row that I had to pack the rain gear for this event. I plan to fish rain or shine unless there is thunder then it is home I go to pour some more sinkers instead of fishing.

Lightning or bone chilling wind with rain mixed in. grin We were having a run of "decent" weather right before that rain came in and totally changed around 9:30, after sun down from being just spring time dreary over to November force Gales. Of course the rain got heavier. Just is not fun when it gets like that, but was ok for those couple hours.

Lol. I was heading out to lunch then and had a customer come in and next thing you know, no lunch for me. I will be checking tomorrow for sure. I will say we should be just fine. wink

Yep the time is +/- 6:00pm. The location is on the end of the park so if you walk from the lot north to the river, either take your first or second right and follow it all the way till you see a park bench on the north/east end of the walking path loop.

The river is up but more swollen than flooding. I did not get down to the spot but looked and the sandbars in ER are under so that means it is about a quarter the way ip the bank. Should still be good and we will just see what happens. The weather sound to be a repeat of last year. Just can not get a night like tonight. grin

See you guys their. smile

Well the weather was great. whistle Thanks to the guys who came because I can not blam those who did not. grin

Tough weather for sure and it's getting worse by the half hour. Just left and it was cold!! We had a couple nice channel hits right before leaving and some nice rough fish were caught. Hard to handle those hits correctly when the hands are frozen. grin Well next year we will have good weather. Going to get below freezing to night I see. Wish we could have given it till mid-night but glad we left when we did.

Yea it was a fun time. My hands are finally warm again. My face doesn't hurt anymore, taking a 3oz weight to the jaw(cheek) didn't feel to good. I got snagged and when it broke free I got hit in the face and the hook ended up in the shoulder of my coat. thank goodness the hook didn't get my face. On a positive note I finally got some hits from some channel cats. this goes to prove that fresh cut bait is better than frozen cut bait. It was nice to meet you Salmonslayer, by the way you left your towel so I picked it up. I can get it back to you if you are going to be in the area again sometime. Thanks shack for putting this together again and for sharing the suckers. Atleast we all had bites. Atleast this year I didn't have to bring out the rain gear but it would be nice if one of these years the weather would be warm.

Thanks Brad, actually forgot to mention it, but I was leaving it for you guys. Figured for sure you'd be landing some fish. No worries about the towel, I've got a million more at home. Thanks for the catfishing lessons guys. I'm already looking forward to next year.

why wait until next year. if you ever have a free saturday and can get back this way let me know and I can maybe sneek away for alittle bit on a saturday night to do some fishing. We could hit the otsego park again or there is also montissippi park in monticello that is a good area for cats. another thing would be to watch for other catfish related get togethers on HSO(there should be a few more here and there over the course of the year). Thanks for the towel.
