Carhartt Rain Gear any good???

I would recommend going with the waterproof, breathable ones, rather than the PVC. They will set you back about the same as any other quality rain wear, but they are awesome! I have the coat, bibs and matching gloves. I walleye fish most of the time and the gloves work great for handling fish. Just rinse them off in the water after removing the fish. I have two sets in my boat, one for myself and one for a passenger. I wear mine on days it is not raining also, they really cut the wind. And on cold mornings, that black material really absorbs the sunlight!

I have thought about it but the material looks and feels so delicate.. I want something that will take a little abuse and something that has more bulk that i can wear early spring when the temps are still get down to the high 30's to low 40's and it blowing like mad..

I take it you have a set and they keep you dry?

-1 on Frog Toggs for durability, but they sure are light and breathe nice.

Helly Hanson is really durable rain gear...But not something to wear when its 90 degrees out. I've had my HH gear for a little over a year now, and should have ripped them on 40 occassions by now, but not a tear. Pretty impressive.

I plan on buying a pair of Frog Toggs for hot summer days, but haven't seen the Bibs on the shelf yet, and i'm not interested in being another backorder customer from frog toggs. I told my buddy to get them last year, 6 months later they just sent him his money back and no rain gear!

Best I have used is my Cabelas Guide Wear, not cheap but holds up well and I use it alot for fishing in the rain, cold, ice fishing and snowmobiling. Buy the uninsulated and layer up under it when it's cold, still works well when it's warm to.

Maybe i will take a look at the HH also... Is that the PVC coated rain gear??

It's Rain Gear Rubber ? confused?

I haven't a clue. Maybe a check on their HSOforum would tell ya. There's a fabric that lines the inside of the rain stopper material which i think helps give it its durability.

Guidewear is probably not too bad either, but HH is the stuff they wear on fishing boats i.e. crab boats...cuz its durable.

I bought the PVC dark green carhartt bibs and jacket last year...awesome stuff...but would not advise wearing on warm summer days, not breathable. Perfect for spring and fall rainy conditions and very durable.

I have Frogg Toggs. Not impressed. Will be searching for new heavier rain gear. Fished in the rain in the Toggs for 9 hrs and was absolutely soaked from head to toe. They would be great for someone who didn't want to get wet while they watched a parade or something. In the boat? Never again. Water in the crack all day long!
