Youth ATV

St_Croix_Banks

Question

I tried to search for this topic and found nothing. I'm thinking of getting my 6 yr old daughter an ATV this summer. Are there 1 or 2 brands/sizes that I should be looking at? Something under $1000. I'm sure Yam/Honda/Kaw/etc. all have them. I"m looking for more of a starter ATV--less $

I bought one on HSO-Classifieds last summer for my 4yr old Grandson for under $600 new, including freight. It's cheaply made (no surprise), but it starts and runs great and he has a ball with it. It has a stop screw on the throttle to keep the speed down. Better yet, it has a remote key fob that shuts it off if he starts getting too brave. I don't remember the brand, but if you do some searching, you should be able to find the guy.

The father law bought the boys a four wheeler a couple of summers ago. I'm not sure of the manufacturer but it is not one of the major ones. The boys call it the Chinese four wheeler because it has some Chinese writing on it. They ride the snot out it and it has done well.

We bought our son a Roketa 125cc last summer. Yes it is more cheaply made (like fairly thin plastic for fenders etc), but it starts reliably (even this winter), and he also rides the snot out of it. Like said in an earlier post, set screw for throttle max, and a key fob remote that a parent can shut the machine down if he gets crazy on it. Just need to keep up on the maintenance, and check all nuts and bolts for tightness once in a while. Like I said, we only have had it for a year now, but have no complaints.
