Hunting

Hey guys,

this year will be my first year hunting in WI. Im located in La Crosse and am in serious help of getting land. Time is running down and i have been screwed out of three chances to buy land. Spring is fast approaching and i need to get food plots and cameras out there. If you have any land within an hour of lacross that would be absolutely awesome! You have no idea how happy I'd be. I would also rent land for this year because to tell you the truth, a 15year old like me doesnt make enough to buy acres yet. but, if you would let me rent for a few years, that would be fantastic! If your land has deer and turkeys, and no one that hunts it, I'd be willing to hunt it. Thanks to everyone here at HSO. you can PM me here or email me at [email protected]. Thanks sooo much,

Cody

If I where you FBMH I would post something in a local news paper or get out and talk to some locals. As far as asking a hunting site such as this one its likely to yield more laughs than results in this day and age.

Just get out and let your intentions be known and keep after it.

Good luck.

Never done this myself, but heard a good tip on finding hunting land....

Go to the grain elevators in the area and ask to post something there. Farmers are coming and going all the time so you get a good audience....

Now, if you arent in an ag land area, ignore my post. smile

A 15 year old getting out now and hitting some land owners up for hunting permission should have a real good chance at gaining access. Look and act respectable, offer to help with spring time chores, show and prove you are responsible, etc. Like others said put your efforts more local than here (although it never hurts to post your needs - who knows). Be persistant, but polite if turned down - you never know the connections you make/break by being rude. Also don't forget public land. WI has tons of public land full of deer and turkey. Good Luck on your search.

Bit confusing, screwed out of 3 chances to buy land and then you type a 15 year old like me doesn't have the $ to buy acres yet ? What's the huge hurry to get camera's out? Assuming deer, but the deer you photo in April could be a few miles away by November. I'd be honest and talk to land owners and be upfront. Last Spring, allowed a turkey hunter, no problem, then the season got going and we had 4 turkey hunters somehow, guess what this spring it's a big N O to that clown and his associates, I assumed he was it but oh no he brought others and then their blinds sat out there till mid July flappin in the wind.

This is solid advice, you need to go old school and go door to door and shake some hands or offer to help. Also don't be afraid to stake out some public land, those hard to reach areas usually hold some nice deer and very few hunters.

confused on the getting screwed out of buying land and you don't have enough money to buy acres...but with that said...if you have money or someone willed you money...I would absolutly buy a chunk of land. I wish when I was 15, 16 and 17 all of that landscape money i made, I wish someone would have told me to buy land. You can always sell it later. When I was 16, I never had a problem finding a spot to hunt. Like someone said, knock on doors...offer up a few chores. I'm sure some farmer would love to have a strong kid around once in a while to help him with some chores...plus maybe you could swing a summer job out of it!
