Jmnhunter
do you guys invest more in the canvas or plastic bumpers? I've read the positives and negatives of each and how a real bird does not compare. So perhaps i should get both?thanks
870Express
Doesn't matter. I bought plastic because I think they were cheaper and I planned on doing water work. Just watch out when your dog starts losing teeth as bumpers can be hard on their gums. If you want something soft to start a puppy, use a paint roller. St_Croix_Banks
Use both. You want your dog to be exposed to a variety of objects, textures, etc------especially if you have a pointing dog you plan to force break for retrieve.
gspman
I have both. When I force broke my dog I used all kinds of things to get her used to different textures. Plastic and canvas dummies, a bristle brush, pvc tubing, wooden retrieving bucks, frozen birds, etc.
