TallPaull
I am looking for suggestions on what size bow mounted trolling motor to install on a Tahoe 195? I was looking at a 55lb V2. Boat use:- trolling spinners and crankbaits- lindy rigging- casting crankbaitsThanks!
Ralph Wiggum
On a 20' glass boat, you're going to want a lot more power than a 55 lb motor. Unfortunately, that means you're going to need to find room for a 24 v set-up, but I really don't think you'd be happy with a 55 lb.
gregg52
ya if you are going to pull spinner cranks baits etc etc it wont take long to drain that battery specially if you get into alittle chopi have a 20ft glass boat i use an 80lb terrova works good i can cruise along 1.5 to 2.5 most of the day no problem i did kinda learn a trick last fall as batteries are going he11and wont hold a charge long any more i was using my kicker to assit the bow mount and steered with the bow worked great i believe i can do the same in some pretty big rollers cuz that 80lb worked good by it self in bout 2 ftersbut if you dont have a kicker
Triple_D
I agree, a 55# is much too small for that boat...I have a 55 on my 17' Lund Pro Sport and I think mine is too small. Battery doesn't last too long and it is fully charged each time.Sugestions for my boat guys too, would a 24v 80# be the ticket for me? (sorry to hijack but the feedback could be useful for you as well). Thanks
gregg52
transom or bow mount
Larson15
For the Tahoe I would suggest either a 70lb Minn kota powerdrive or a 80lb Minn kota Terrova.Tripple D, going to a 24v system will be the ticket. Anything between 70-80lbs will be more than enough
TallPaull
Thank you everyone for your advice for the Tahoe 195. I went to Fishlectronics today and he suggested the 70lb or 80lb as well. Anyone have an idea how long the shaft needs to be? He suggested a 60" but I'm worried it will be a tight fit on the front of the boat. Anyone have a similar boat and recommendation on shaft length? gregg52
i'm not sure what a tahoe is but mine is a 2095DCX Yar Craft i think you can see it on the yar craft site i think its 07 so the might have \changed some but i believe mine is 60 inches and you will need it all if you get into ruffer water so it dont come out of the water
Ralph Wiggum
I would definitely get the 60". Other than taking up a bit more space, you will not regret having the extra length.
Esox_Magnum
I agree 60" for a pleasure boat syle rig.
delmuts
Also; i think they still make a bracket so you can remove the trolling motor when you just want to play and not fish.
Ralph Wiggum
Also; i think they still make a bracket so you can remove the trolling motor when you just want to play and not fish. That is what I would do. The quick-release brackets are the only way to go with a Powerdrive or Terrova.
