Yet another rod question(Tooth Tamer)

Anyone fished with their 8'6" X-heavy? Its rated for 2-8oz, wondering if its heavy enough for twin 13s and mag sized dawgs/super Ds. It would see more twin 10 use but need something to handle the big stuff - possibly an occasion pounder. I know they have a XXX-heavy but its 8' and I'm looking for something longer. Thanks.

I've never fished one, but from what I've heard they pretty much the same as St. Croix Premiers. So my best guess is they'll run a little on the light side. Should be a great blade rod, but I'm not so certain it's an ideal mag dawg rod. I think it'll certainly fish them fine, but there will definitely be better rods for big rubber.

But who knows, I'm speculating from what I've read elsewhere.

I have that rod in the 8 foot length. I've thrown DCG 13 with it but not magnum dogs. IMO I think the rod would be on the light side for my taste.

I just notice your rod has the 2 to 8 oz rating. Mine has a 2 to 6oz.

Look at the Tackle Industries rods they have telescoping ones to 9' and the XH is my got to rod for 10's and rubber. Handles the 13" Curlie Sues easily and will throw pounders but I have the XXH for those. For $110 a sweet price on a great rod. I sold my Croix, Loomis is in storage and Predator is a back up/ loaner rod now after using the TI for the past 2 years.
