Ice build up on auger

TV BOY

Question

I've had issues this season with the blades on my electric lazer icing up and not cutting. Would new blades solve the issue? The ones on there are older but seemed to cut the first hole fine , then they ice up and don't cut.

When you finish drilling the hole pull the auger strait up and give the throttle one extra rev so it throws off excess water and slush and as stated don't set a wet auger onto the snow or slush after drilling.

Now that we have a year with snow, I think that was the problem. Because I always pull the auger out while spinning it to clear the hole. I most likely set the aguer down before starting it and the snow melted to the end.....

Spray it down with cooking spray before drilling holes and water & ice won't stick as easy. I keep a can in my fishing bucket and have used it for many different things that need lubed. Ball hitches, hinges, etc. when out fishing.

Sounds like a good idea, I will have to try that.

Does the cooking oil also go into the lake or does it stay on the auger blade? I am not sure I want to put some type of oil in the water.
