Zip Lure

Any one try that Lure out. I alway see informercials for it.

I've had two zip lures in my tackle box for three years now and still haven't caught anything to speak of on them. I did caught a couple of keeper crappies last summer on an all silver one. That infommercial does a good job of selling them though, I got a third zip last Christmas from my wife's grandparents, after they watched the show.

we use them trolling for walleyes and northerns. we've caught fish on them but i dont think they are anything special. for the most part its just another crankbait

I love John Gillespie his show is the best on TV- but the zip is junk man! i tried one on LOW when they were biting one after another and didn't catch a fish. i threw it down the hole in disgust.

The 1/16 oz I have caught crappies on while ice fishing thats it. At least I think it was 1/16th, anyways it was the smallest they had. I think the brand was a Cicada (spelling?), just like the zip lure.
Otherwise I would say they are junk for bigger game fish. Thats my opinion.

I own a couple never have caught anything but I dont use them very often...so who knows.

As far as John Gillespie and his tv show goes....his voice make me want to drive red hot nails into my ears to stop the pain of listening to him. He needs to get some meds to help his ADD.

I use the zip lure for ice fishing and is one h-e-l-l of lure for walleye and crappie. On the Missouri River a couple of winters ago i nailed the eyes on the blue and white Zip. This past winter I caught a lot of crappies on Buffalo using the same blue and white nd the chartuse and white. I have not used them in the open water but are deadly through the ice.

Now that I think about it I once caught a 32" walleye on LOW with a zip lure in its mouth. It was the craziest thing, because the lure didn't have any string tied to it at all. TRZ could it be?

You couldn't have said it better! I would just as soon visit with my mother-in-law for 2 hours than watch Gillespie for 1/2 hour!!!

Gillespie is the best. Sure, he needs to take downers when he ties into a big fish, but most of the time he is worth a good laugh. And for some reason, he makes me want to eat a Johnsonville brat?

Zip lure is just like the Sonar and Cicada's that alot of river fishermen use. I have always wanted to try them on Mille Lacs during the mayfly hatch. I think the zips have their time and place like many lures. I have 5-6 of them all in the small sizes. I don't know why I would need to buy the larger size ones on the infomercials though.

Gillespie is great MAN! he is always on midwest lakes that we can all fish and have access to and his shows are all current. Those other shows are phony- bill dance on a farm pond is not good TV! and some knucklehead in canada catching eater walleyes is not a good show either. and i can smell those johnsonville's on the grill!
