Solo strike master lazer mag auger issue

wondering if n e body else having the same issue/problems.

1st question... There is alot of oil build up where my exhaust is and is sorta of dripping all over below the power head side where the exhaust is at. Is this normal? Using regular premium gas and strike master 2 cycle oil mixed accordingly to sm recommendations.

2nd ??? Once the auger is warmed up and this only happens sometimes is when drilling holes sometimes the auger would just bog out and die in the middle of drilling a hole. Not sure what the problem is. N e care to shime in? Auger is 2 yrs old only!!

Sounds like too mun't ch oil in the mix. Try using 80:1 amsoil. I have been using it in my Eskimo for 8 years and it still runs like a champ no problems at all.

No issues with the bogging here. I have noticed some oil buildup but I wouldn't' say it's "dripping all over"...not by any stretch of the imagination. Sounds like you may have an issue. Have you called StrikeMaster? They should be able to tell you more in a couple seconds than any of us amateurs and they know the augers inside and out.

I would also run it at 80:1 regardless of what Strikemaster recomends, it may solve your bogging issue to.I will solve the gunk dripping problem.

His auger should not be bogging running at the recommended mix.

Also be aware that StrikeMaster will not honor the warranty if you mix the oil less than they recommend.

That said everybody has great things to say about Amsoil so might be worth the "risk".

Yeah I think my warranty just ended last month. I might try amsoil to see if it makes a difference. Bogging issue doesn't happen all the time but it does happen just about every other trip out.

Carburetor? Fuel pump? (do these have a fuel pump?) Vent in the gas tank plugged?

Take the top diaphragm cover off the carb (Walbro I presume)look at it close you'll see a 1/4 inch hole in the carb body,in it is a extra fine screen,remove and clean the crud off (from our great gas and poor grade oils) reinstall and it will be good to go.If its a Ruix carb same deal.

how do I mix 80:1 if I only have a 2 gal gas tank? I was looking online at amsoil and it says 8 oz for 80:1 w/ 5 gallon gas. Not really sure on how to measure the smaller packs... any help would be appreciated! Thx!

2 of the AMSOIL Saber Professional pillow packs in 2 gallons of gas will give you between 85 and 90 to 1. To get to 80-1 with 2 packs use just under 2 gallons of gas - 1.8 to 1.9 gallons will work.

Mine did the same thing as I was using Strikemaster oil but I believe I had it mixed a bit rich. No bogging down or power loss though.

I switched it over to Sabre and now there is way less for oil leakage from the exhaust.

In my Nils, the Sabre is an awesome oil for that unit. No smoke at all.

I have a brand new Solo Lazer Mag 10" and have used it about 15 times this year. I'm running AMSOIL Sabre Pro at 100:1. The auger starts easily and cuts great but after it runs for several minutes it abruptly stops running and won't start again (and it smells like gas if you keep trying to re-start it).

Is it possibly running too lean given the 100:1 mixture? Do I need a carb adjustment or should I change my mix ratio to 80:1 or 90:1?

You're tank vent might be plugged? Possibly being starved for fuel - wouldn't think that would be abrupt however? Try running it with the gas cap off (or loose.)

Hopefully it's not getting too tight when hot.. I always err on the side of mixing my gas rich and try to aim for about 80-90:1.

When AMSOIL packages the oil in the pillow packs, do they assume that some will always remain in the packaging?? I always mix about .85 gallons to one pack.
