Place to get White Backgound paper????

Recommended Posts

My wife got a new camera for christmas this year and wants to take some pictures of our 2 year old daughter with a white background. Is there a good place ot buy the wide white paper rolls other than online. I want to try to avoid paying shipping since it is fairly large. I live in Fargo.

I would also use a white sheet, or go to a fabric store and buy enough white fleece or muslin or cotton fabric to do the job. Should be pretty inexpensive, and you can re-use fabric. I have 7 different solid colors of fleece and/or felt for product photography backdrops. I bought it during a clearance sale at a fabric store in the Twin Cities.

It works very well as a portrait backdrop in some situations, too. I store it on the same 6-foot-long cardboard rolls it came on, so wrinkling/folding is not an issue.

If you are set on getting white paper, try calling a large commercial printing outfit in Fargo/Moorehead area.

If they print large format they might have some as large as 44" x 63", or if they have a web type press you can get butt rolls ( the end of the roll that gets tossed )

Call and talk to the shipping guys, let them know what you want to do.

They will probably give you some, it gets recycled otherwise.

Good Luck,

Mike

The only problem with paper from web presses, such as news print, is the paper isn't very white. Just place a piece of copier paper next to your newspaper and you'll see what I mean.

Just paint a wall white and you'll have a permanent white backdrop. whistle I have a wide white wall in my basement and it worked great for my daughters' family photos.
