Fish House Size, Advice?

We live on a lake and I've built a breadbox-style portable about six years ago. You know, the kind with the 4 x 8 plywood floor on treated wood runners, a half oval of plywood on each end and a tarp for the side walls and roof. We haven't really fished much since I built it, a couple of times a season max, mostly due to the kids being so young. But now that they're older, we're going out more and having fun. It gets a little crowded in there with four people and I'm thinking about a very small wheel house or permanent house. Plus I'm craving the creature comforts of a little nicer, warmer house.

I've been looking online at some light 6 1/2 X 12 foot houses that I could tow with an ATV. I'm trying to go fairly basic and even thinking about buildig one on a frame. Though, I'm thinking it might be easier and cheaper to buy a bare bones one and customize. I don't need anything fancy, or with beds, and I don't want to/can't spend an arm and a leg. Any thoughts on size and style of house for my needs? Again, in most cases, it would b 4 people in there max. Most times, myself though.

My advice would go a little bigger than you think you need. I have an 8 X 14 wheelhouse and I think it is a perfect 2 - 3 man house. 4 is getting tight and you throw a couple kids in there and it seems tiny. Make sure you have room for plenty of storage and something to cook on. I don't have an oven in mine yet but the campstove gets a workout on the weekends. Hot food sure beats a cold sandwich.

mine is 7.5X14 with a v front. set up to fish 4 but 2 is really comfortable. if i were doing a new one i would buy a shell with hydrolic drop (mine is electric). SPRAY FOAM EVERTHING & finish later. i don't have bunks i use cots. decided i wanted a stove/oven so that was this years project. i like to do something to it each year it gets me in the mood.

check out the hayfield industry houses. they are out of iowa and you can get into one of their 6 1/2 X 16 for around $6000.00 or the other house I would look at is a zack shack in 6 X 12 for around $7000. the advantage of the zach shack is that it is spray foamed completely when you get it plus they will float if they go in(north dakota regulation, they are made in ND). another advantage of the zach shack house is there is no cables to break on the lift system.
