Hurricane by Musky Mayhem

+1. Its starting to get riduculous with all the bling there putting on baits. I'm sure fish will eat this bait but a simple raddog spinner works just as well without the carpent tunnel. I'm drawing the line. I have no plans in buying this bait.

Very good point John. I was just answering dfricke's question. It is a very spendy bait...but they will sell a ton of 'em. I, for one, don't know if I'm willing to spend nearly $40 on one lure. The arrival of this lure doesn't mean you still can't pound fish after dark on a $15 jointed crankbait or a SuperMod (still spendy, but what an unbelievable bait)...

I got to use them all last year and it was stupid the number of fish we caught on them. I know people look at it and say $40 bucks is it worth it? After you throw one and catch 6 fish in the first day! You just simply start laughing and as Hamernick called it "CRACK FOR MUSKIES" as we were laughing at all the fish we caught that day. This bait really throws off the vibration as soon the bait hits the water you feel it in the rod tip. I can tell you that the bait price is not bad at all for the amount of time it takes to make this bait its not just a few blades and skirts put together. If you look at all the hardware (beads, blades, clevis, skirts, weights, spacers) on the bait it looks like it takes time to build. Plus I look at it this way, if I buy 5 suckers it costs me $40 and I may get 5 fish (If my suckers dont die) where as with this bait I can throw it alot longer for more fish. Now I know this bait wont be for everybody and I know brad was never planning on it being for everybody, its not going to be a beginners choice but it has its time and place to catch fish.

I was at the Chicago show today and got to talk to Brad at Musky Mayhem about the new Hurricane. He mentioned that the baits take an extreme amount of time to make with all the bending, blades, beads, etc. It was funny because he told me straight out "it is not a bait for everybody" I thought it was interesting because most bait dealers would tell you that anyone can use the bait but he was honest and straight forward about the bait not being for everyone. Needless to say I bought 2 because I like 2 colors they had. I sure hope I can catch some fish!

I would compare them to 13s maybe even alittle less just because the blades on the bait are not big blades, its just the fact that their are 5 blades on the bait. I would go with less than 13's when I think about it. (Ice sucks we need openwater year round) You can pull them somewhat fast if you wanted but the bait wasnt designed to move fast. When we first starting using the baits we thought the samething that we had to move them at good speed but found that slower was better. When you real the bait in at normal speed it drops down to about 5 or 6 feet in the water column. We found that if you slow roll them just enough to keep the blades moving it runs about 15 or 16 feet down in the water column. Like I said earlier as soon as the bait hits the water you will feel the bait vibrating in the water. Dfrickee a revo toro will be plenty as you down need to move this bait very fast. A nice slow speed enough to throw off good vibration and its game on or game over whichever you prefer.

I hope they're giving you a cut of the sales on this, hhguide! All negative posts until you dropped a little wisdom on us. I've always been really hesitant to buy any of the super-mega-giant baits out there, but I'm considering buying one of these. Thanks for the info.

I might just have to too, had tried to tell myself I didn't need one. Wonder how long it'll take the fish to get used to/conditioned to these and they become less effective? I guess I should join the crowds that will cash in on this while they're still hot!

I think guys give to much credit to the fish as far as conditioned, if this were the case a Suick would no longer work or small bucktails or spinnerbaits that have been in use since the start of muskie specific baits.

You've probably got a point. As a relative amatuer at this it seems when something new comes out that the fish haven't seen before people have great success with it for a while and it fades once everyone's used them for a while. Maybe it's just hype, you're less likely to make a big deal telling people about catching a bunch of fish with a Suick as it's nothing new and people aren't talking about Suicks much. I don't know, I've probably got too much time to sit around and think today! smile

Guys, this is the next big lure:

Quote:
But this one takes the cake, the million-dollar fishing lure from MacDaddy's Fishing Lures. It's made of three pounds of gold and platinum, and encrusted with 100 carats of diamonds and rubies—4753 stones in all. It's over a foot long, and is designed for big-game fishermen who are looking to hook the next Moby Richard. Or something.

If I were playing the only 5 baits game a 10" Suick would be one of them, alot of it comes down to what each of us likes to work and the types of water/cover we're fishing.

Ordered a Hurricane from MTO last night along with most of the supplies I need to be ready for next season; we'll see if the $40 was worth it.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
