When does marine dealers/shops businuss start picking up

I have a few things planned for my boat for next season and want to have my local dealer do the work.

Problem is, I'm waiting for new employment budgets to begin in January before committing to dropping some cash.

I know what I want. I know when I want the work done. I won't know if it can happen for a few more weeks.

When do people start making appointments for spring boat work?

I think your best bet would be to call the dealer you had in mine and ask. I would be willing to bet he would like to have your business right now UNLESS he also sells snowmobiles because they could be swamped with repairs.

Usually the ones that lay their mechanics off, don't bring them back until late March early April. Not much call for a boat mechanic when you can't get your boat out of storage.

Autumn just before I store my boat for the winter. That way, when open water comes back, I just have to pull the boat out and go.

I used wait till spring but there were times that I didn't get my boat back when i needed it

Call the dealership or ships that you would like to have do the work. As said. Some are shut down this time of year. To find out when they could do the work.

My boat is also in storage. I was more curious in when people start creating appointments to have work done.

I assumed shops will schedule work by appointment. I was thinking I'd set up an appointment in January for work to be completed mid April.

I am waiting to commit until I know I will be employed next year. I don't want to dip into my savings until I feel safe about my job which, will be early January. My concern is, will there be April shop time if I wait until mid January to schedule work?

Which lead to my curiosity, when do people have work done or shcedule work to be done?

Give them a call and see how they would like to set it up. The one thing that will get boats in the shop is lakes losing ice. I would think that if you gave them your boat in March it should be a pretty quick turn around time but if you waited till April all bets are off.
