Wheels go out of balance with snow packed in

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have this problem? The truck I bought has 22 inch rims that are fairly wide, and snow likes to pack into them. I live in the country, and we've had a lot of snow this year already. I have balancing beads in the wheels already, I may try cleaning them off real good, and spraying the wheel down with pam, anyone try this and does it work? Any other tips besides getting new set of wheels, which I plan to do sometime, but just not right now.

I only cleaned out about a hundred wheels last week for vibration complaints. I'm not sure if anything will work besides staying out of deep snow.

Yep, I wish I could, but when they only plow the roads if it gets real bad, driving through 3-6 inches of snow packs it in real quick it seems. I take it you work in an auto shop?

Usually a few good kicks to my tires does the trick. Also sometimes Ill jump off a curb and the impact knocks stuff loose. Ive used the pam trick on a dirt bike for keeping the bike light and mud free. It works well and it might work for snow but you are constantly going to be applying it.

Id say the best bet would be get your rims teflon coated! That should do the trick lol

What the H do you have 22" rims for? The low pro tires make the problem even worse. Get new tires and rims and sell the ones you have on Craigs list. That is Cr--gs l1st

Ha, They were on the truck when I bought it, last march. The tires are 33 inch, so they're not terribly low pro, but I definitely need to get something different, although I do like the nitto terra grapplers that are on them.

I was just at FF and they have a few different cans of teflon sprays, one was made for spraying the underside of the car to prevent ice and slush buildup, don't see any reason you can't use it on the wheels. Its in the automotive section along with the lubricants.
