mitch
Hey guys. I'm heading to Breck skiing for spring break this year. I also love fly fishing for trout. So I thought since I'll be in CO I would look into doing some fishing. Are there any guides in the area that are inexpensive? I'm a POOR college student. Thanks for any leads. so haaad
Inexpensive? Guides are never inexpensive in my opinion. But you pay for their local expertise and access to private water. Most in Colorado will run you $200 and up for a half day. Winter flyfishing can be challenging but still fun. The Blue River is the main river near Breck. Fish slow and use nymphs, midges and san juan worms. If you fish below the dam in Silverthorne then you can also use mysis shrimp patterns. Good luck. Jim Bob
Besides the Blue river about an hour away is the South Platte below Spinney Res.
Scott M
Guys, heading to Breckenridge in late August. Looking to DIY. Blue River? Other suggestions? I imagine my timing isn't very good, but I figured its worth a shot to say I tried.
Antero
Check out FishExlorer, lots of info for Co fishing. Shore foshing for trout (nice ones) can be had at Antero and Spinney and Eleven Mile Resevoirs, all about 1 to1 and 1/2 hrs from Breck. If you want stream fishing, the Blue runs right thru Breck and lots of spots on the South Platte are within 2 hrs. A branch of the S Platte is just over HHoosier pass from Breck and has some public areas and is supposed to be good.
Nate McVey
Eagle rivers not far from there also. The Blue has some nice trout in it and there is easy access in town (at least there was a few years ago).
