TroutYammer
Wondering if I should use clear monofilament, black braided or if it does not make a difference?Any help will be greatly appreciated.
shamalex72
I use the 80# braid that I take off my muskie reels when I switch line on them. I wouldn't use mono because I'd be scared of losing a decoy. I think the fish are so focussed on the decoy that they don't even see the line. bowhunt
Along the same lines as the original question, I put a black 6" wire leader on my decoy line, do you think that will effect the fish or action of the decoy at all?Bowhunt
spearchucker
I've used both 30#mono and black braid and it didn't seem to make a difference.

BOUNCED
I use tip up line down to a barrel swivel and a 6' leader of 80# spider wire on an automatic fly reel. Having a fly reel eliminates the need for a leader. Once the fish hits the decoy if they want to run with it they can have all the line they need. I have yet to have one take it very far out of the hole.I never run a steel leader and unless your decoys are heavy it will effect how they swim. Laska
I use either black tip up line or green braid-spiderwire, seems to do the trick.
