I have been running the LakeMaster® Contour Elite™ MN for several months now, it's an amazing program with many useful tools and features. Lots of just plain Kewl features in it.

It's ability to grow with you is a key element, as is the journal integration.

The new LakeMaster® Contour Elite™ Lake of the Woods Rainy and the New Dakota's versions are out now. I was quick to order them.

I would recommend the version for the region you fish the most. They are tools that will pay dividends for the long term.

I picked it up at the Ice Fishing Show this past Sunday. I am VERY impressed with what I have seen so far. I am having a little difficulty believing the feature which highlights the areas where the fish may be depending on species, time of year and time of day. Only time will tell. There are tons of great options on this software including the fishing log. I can't wait to put it to the test. The 3D is truely amazing!!!!!

You can take waypoints, tracks and such info you organized from the Contour Elite Program and then put it on a data card, and then upload/transfer that info to you Lowrance GPS unit, and any other model and manufacturer unit its compatible with...Garmin, Hummingbird, ect.

The actual CE program itself, the 3-D imagery for instance, will remain on your computer and can not be installed on the sonar/gps.

There is only a few gps units out there that could handle the complexity of this CE program at this time, a few series high end Garmin's might...but that is not an option...not yet anyway.

On another note about Lakemaster- I just got a new version of Contour Pro. My old one quit with my new computor a year or so ago. I put it in today and got the message to register it in 30 days.OK, so I started registering it on line. Guess what- the response said thank you for registering, your access code will be e-mailed to you in 1-3 business days. Now it wont open till I get the code. If you get it don't register it on a weekend, Lakemaster is closed. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack your thread just trying to keep others from being as dissapointed as I am today.

Could be possible at some point down the line, with added layering and security I suppose?

But you would need the base CE program first, and then buy unlock codes for the lakes you wished to purchase.

I think in the end you would find yourself paying more, once you added a few more must have lakes, when just buying the whole state or fishery right off might be more cost effective.

I agree with you but its much easier for me to sneek 20 bucks past the wife then it is 180...

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
