how to use a ice saw ?

hi do i put 2 holes from my auger kiddie corner then cut it out. i plan on buying a saw but dont understand how to use it. saw the video but that just shows a circle

When the ice is thicker that is what I do is just drill to corners kiddy corner from eachother. Or just chisel the corners depending on ice thickness

I drill all four corners out. I saw three sides and use my chisel on the fourth side.

I go from just using the saw itself as chisel to get the hole started at first ice, to drilling the four corners, and towards the end of the season I will drill six holes.

+1 as the ice get thicker and as you get older the more holes you will drill with the auger so the cutting is less

The 4 holes make it easier on thick ice. If the ice is a foot or less you can stand the saw straight up and down and cut around corners just like a jig saw. On thin ice I just crack a hole with the chisel and start cutting.

i drill the 4 corners out, and then drill a whole in the middle for the 5th hole when we have a ton of ice. that way i have 4 chunks that i take out with the ice tongs, and everything works out perfect!
