Shack
This is a long one, as most of mine are, but most likely the last writings I will put time into with regards to our 2010 season. Plus I am going through the levels of denial, frustration, panic, anger and finally acceptance much the same as you all in the HSO Vikings world. Figure I would go out with a bang-o-la and let it all out. The Vikings loosing today, even a season ending blow to Green Bay, is not that big of deal for me. It is, well kind of, still hard to know another seasons road to glory is done before it is even over, but we have driven down this road many times before. Being a Viking's fan my entire life, well since the point of knowing what the Vikings were and especially since I became more into the Vikings as following every move in my early 20's, I have known that "loosing" is part of the deal and territory with being a fan. As disappointing as today’s season crushing loss may have been, again at the hands of Green Bay of course, it should be no shock to those who have followed the Vikings for any period of time. Many have come and gone here in Minnesota to try their hand at getting us that Super Bowl title, much less a Super Bowl showing. With all the names of those who have came and went, short of Jim Mcmahon I have a hard time remembering who they all have been. For me and anyone who has been able to comprehend their surroundings this past fall, one of the names that will never be forgotten is Brett Favre. Many loved him just months ago, along with some others, and now he is in the circle of the center of blame. Can we blame him? For me I can not because in the fact that he tried and has been trying up to the last second he left the field today. With some of the horrible injuries this season has seen thus far (not really a factor but worth noting as to give perspective), given his age, recent (last summer) reconstructive ankle surgery, other factors like Rice, the so called Vikings curse and so on, you almost wonder what was he thinking? He is/was our 2010 season starting quarterback and is accountable for many of the particular situations causing the losses this season, but I still have to hand it to him for trying. I know a good amount of cash was placed on the table, you have to figure in some of his lust for being front & center also (who wouldn't if you were him), but in the end and as wealthy as he is, the gamble of a carrier was placed down to getting us a Super Bowl victory. Favre IMO is no Evel Knievel for hire and the challenge of getting us to the Super Bowl IMO was prevalent. From his determination on the field and his emotion off the field, to me showed he was in it for more than just for the love of the game. If it were me and I was in Favre’s place with his abilities, I would have probably gave up 3 or 4 games ago and took what the aftermath gave me. I feel I owe a thank you to Favre for playing this season and with Minnesota. I am sure many do not feel this and even some enjoy what went on this season. Maybe he should have retired? Maybe he should have done this or that, but he played and kept playing and is still playing. When I started to write this post I did not care about the loss today or our 2010 season glory run being over in heap of disgust and failure. I know Favre is a Big Boy, but I cared more about dragging an Hall of Fame, one of the best there ever was with tossing the pigskin, NFL quarterbacks down with us while in seemingly the last season of his carrier. Going back to last year and Favre giving us his all, in the best season of regulation I have ever lived as a Viking fan, he ended the season with a crushed ankle and and on a bad note. I also feel that if he had not played this year, trying to repeat history for us with even a better outcome, the spot light would have not been shinning so bright and the texting scandal might have never even been brought up. Either way, this is pretty cruddy way to end a long haul with something you have enjoyed and loved during a major portion of your life. Then again, with the majority of the people I have looked up to and respected in my life while growing up, unfortunately when a life time of glory does come to an end, it is not usually in the way we have come to expect when the music is over. Things always turn around though for people like that. There is also a side of me that thinks maybe Favre would rather have had it this way. I am sure it has been one heck-o-a-season to be in that locker room and other things that occurred we may not have known about or over looked have great meaning to Favre? Who knows, but maybe he is perfectly satisfied with going out like this, knowing he gave our dilemma his all, risked quality life in his golden years trying to accomplish the MN Super Bowl feat against all the odds. When I say odds, I am talking about the odds that the Viking's will bomb after a good year and the never ending, never getting a Super Bowl victory and title odds. Even with the best force on OL and DL, this is something that is just a tough thing to even get close to accomplishing. Look it up. So what is Farve going to do now? My opinion/guess and what I would like to see is Favre starting every game until the last and playing until our coaches and himself feel it is best to come off. I hope this will happen, with his carrier starting record and this being his 20th season. MN is the odd man out. We are done towards the run. If anything we could go out with pride and help a QB who helped us. Who knows. Given how dedicated Favre is, he might demand to play the entire 4 quarts of these rest of this seasons games. I also feel he knows this would be a good time to let the T-Jack come out and stomp or flop as it would help with figuring out next years agenda. Then again, maybe I have gauged him wrong and he calls in tomorrow and says he is done. Either way I still think it was very cool to see him play for us in Minnesota and to see him wearing purple. What now? Ice fishing? Anyone, after the emotions have settled, who follows, enjoys, loves, and calls themselves a fan of their local NFL team has to respect Favre as one of the greatest NFL quarterbacks who ever played the game. Even tossing some respect for what he tried to do here in Minnesota. Love him or hate him if you will given the good, bad and the even the ugly/the rest, but you still have to respect the guy for how he has played on and off the field, even if it was not perfection. Favre created the standard for perfection as to how NFL quarterbacks are gauged. This takes place for me no matter what jersey is on his back or which season it was. I am talking real down to earth respect and not some kind of Madden Man love thing, which by the way was spooky at times. I am sure that in the morning and for the next couple weeks till the season is officially over, blame directed at whom, what and where will be in no shortage after todays season ending loss, again to Green Bay of all things. It's hard to even blame our Vikings team and even our head coach for anything short of dumb luck and being human, as long as they did show up today at the inflatable pumpkin. Imagine the feelings that were had with the entire team and especially Childress prior to the game this week, last night and this morning surrounding the fear if “this” did happen. I give the boys credit for even just showing up, let alone hanging around the entire 4 quarters. LOL. The Minnesota football fan crowd has no love and even worse after a major failure. Not to bring our head coach into this post, but if anything could be had at making things feel better, maybe just knowing the agonizing feelings and emotions Childress had prior to today’s game and after till going to Winter Park in the morning can provide some comfort and satisfaction within the Chilly hater crowd. It really doesn't for me, because I never really disliked Childress and even had some minimal respect towards him for even attempting to coach our team, but I would not question or protest if he was removed as our head coach in the morning. It is time and maybe this will recoup some imagine loss with fans after this season. Also as stated by someone in one of the other threads, a positive can be had after a season like this. Draft pick! It is hard watching our team turn from contender to hope, then down to spoiler, but just as in the draft pick positive theory, we have more ice fishing time because I know I put off ice time when the Vikings played. This excuse for the answer to a bum Vikings season is almost corny and cliché, but it's all we have and it does work. I figure what do they have in Texas when the seasons over? Sundays are awesome fishing days during the ice season anyways. Almost glad in a way. This season was, did and got kind if weird, but it had soooooo much potential. Maybe almost too much? You have to figure in the bomb/bust after the boom season with the Vikes. It is a statistical trend with our team according to Vegas. Thanks Favre & Go Vikings! Look on the bright side folks. LIMIT can not toss anything further into to the fire to cause any more flamage. I know he will find something though, but I figure anything further is pretty much laughable from here on out. Heck, I will even start the first roasting toss out: "2010 Vikings season re-cap: YAWN!" Ripped that one off like a 5 day old band-aid. Ok I added on some more than when I first posted. I said it as going to be long.

Born2Fish
I will always watch the Vikings. Win or lose, they are, and always will be, my favorite team. That last loss hurt pretty good. Losing the way we lost to GB, that was almost unwatchable. But I sat there, right up to seeing the players shake hands. I have had to sit through worse seasons than this. At least we still have Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Jared Allen, Kevin WillAIMS, Antoine Winfield, and more special players. This is still a good team that just needs to find that rhythm that they had all of last year. While I can say that even if they were to find it this coming Sunday, the season is still over in my eyes. I also have respect for Brett Favre. He did go out there and really give it his all. Hurt or not, he seemed to always give 110% and you have to give it to him for that. I guess I could care less if he plays the year out or not. I would say that if he feels he wants to do it, let him do it. Though it would still be nice to get someone else in there just to see how they can fare with this team also (Yes that is a direct reference to T Jack or Webb). But if the old man wants to keep slinging the ball, then so be it. The season is over anyway, the only thing it would hurt is his shoulder or ankle, and that is up to him. I am still excited to watch every last game this year. I want to watch AP burst through the line and down the field for a 65 yard touchdown. I want to see Rice leap above a corner and pull one down in the corner of the endzone for a TD. I still want to see Jared Allen tear apart some lowly QB. Maybe even watch Winfield take one back for a pick 6. We still have a few games left this season. They can still be fun to watch. SKOL VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!! SkunkedAgain
As a Packer fan, I can say that the Vikings won't garner anywhere near the pity that is felt for the Lions. However, Favre is Favre and you got exactly what you should have expected - a great leader with a never-say-die attitude that won some breath taking games and gave away some losses with head scratching performances. My only wish for the Vikings is to see them rededicate to the running game. You've got one of the best in the league in AP and an up-and-comer in Toby. The O-line can't pass protect anything but they can run block slightly better. Please football gods, at least let the Vikings salvage their season by highlighting the other man who truly lays it on the line every week for the Vikings - Adrian Peterson. FISHINGURU
The season has been over for a good month, I can't believe some people actually got excited after the Cardinal win lol. If we would of lost I wonder if Child would of got fired like the reports were saying? If thats the case thats the worst win in Vikings history to go along with our horrid season.Play for a top 5 draft pick guys!!We'll need a new coaching staff and a QB but we do have a solid core of young and veteren players. A fresh start next year will be nice.Hopefully we can keep AP, if he leaves we are done for a very long time.
Shack
Well just heard it Childress is gone and fired. No argument from or by me.
Shack
The season has been over for a good month, I can't believe some people actually got excited after the Cardinal win lol. LOL! Funny we do not see/have more multi-millionaires coming forward within these forums. I sometimes wonder how you guys could "NOT" be winning the Power-Ball at least once a year with such great and predictive minds. FnG you know you were on the edge of your Lazy Boy up until the other week like the rest of us.
FISHINGURU
Actually I wanted us to lose every game the last month. I haven't been on the edge of my seat since last years Championship game.

DTro
Speaking of picking Powerball numbers, I see a career ending midweek injury to Mr #4 coming shortly.... Shack, you need to lay off the Kool Aid dude. Next thing you know you'll be hittin the paint thinner like those crazies across the border. Shack
Lol maybe you guys were right all along. Now is the time to get your resumes off. Besides head coach, I would also slip in seeking for position of Muse. Darren, I was honestly thinking of you while I was adding paragraphers to the post last night. I knew you would chime in. Still have not hammered down those stoic one liner posts which express everything. What can I say? I love football and mock me if you will. It is good therapy anyways and a mocking is always good. You can only get so much out of your system by typing "Favre sucks and Fire Chilly.". May do it for some but not me.
flipper
I can only get half as much out of my system now.
