I have some Under Armor and also some of the Gander brand copy of it. If I didnt get the UA on a clearance I would buy the gander stuff. Its just as warm and a lot less expensive. I also have some Duo Fold stuff thats good as well as comfort tech is another brand to try.

All will have different weights to try out. Get what you think will work for you not others. Some folks like the real heavy stuff while others will just use silk stuff.

As far as fit I think it's personal choice. I have a couple shirts from years past when I was a smaller guy and I don't wear them. They fit but they fit tight and I don't like it. The stuff I do wear fits snug but not tight if that makes sense. I'm a large guy though at around 285lb and 6' so I could afford to lose a few pounds. I just go for a size that I'm comfortable wearing. I know I have other layers on also but sometimes on a warmer day or when we get into the shack those other layers may come off. I'm not the type of person to wear a tshirt just to have a layer to cover my tight fitting base layer shirt thus a comfortable base layer size that I'm comfortable wearing on it's own. I don't want to look like that 21 year old chic at the club who's wearing her clubbing outfit from when she graduated high school after putting on her freshman 15 and sophomore 20.

I wear the UA snug fitting stuff when I am hole hopping and the Polartec stuff when I am going to be more stationary.

I have some of the Duofold thermals that I rarely wear as well. Too bulky for me. I only break that out when its REALLY cold.
