OnAFly
There is a stream near my house that I know has carp. It connects a couple of lakes. Do these carp go into the lakes in the fall or is it still worth going for them at the stream? Also, carp and crayfish....is there a predator/prey relation? Are they aggressive towards them? Stick500
as for the crawdad question, I imagine big carp will take them as long as they are small - I bet they don't like things pinching too much on their sensitive mouth parts I was wondering if the carp are still even biting this late in the season up here- does anyone know when they pretty much turn off in the Metro area? I got into them bigtime in the runoff in Cedar Lake during that last big storm about a month agoI was just trying to get 'em yesterday at the 694 bridge on the Mighty Miss- no bites at all- would love to get some though before the season is overI was catching them this late in a small river in SW WI last year (the dam below Yellowstone Lake in Lafayette county)
roughfish29
yes, they will eat crayfish. i've caught many carp on crayfish. and the only carp i've got on a fly was on a bead head wolly bugger. twitched along the bottom, looking crayfish-like.they are still biting. but with the temperature falling, they won't be for long. i got what will probably be my last carp of the season the other day. now its time for me to focus on muskies.best of luck to you
StillwaterAaron
Fall is when I turn to carp. Backwaters areas of rivers northern shallows warm up and they look there for food good ole' crawler is my tactic.

erickol
Hey stillwater Aaron, (time to ice fish....so I'm back here)carp love crayfish. smaller is better. if you are tying flys for them, tie them with one pincher instead of two. a great trigger, weak prey (another nice thing about most crayfish patterns is that they ride hook point up, a huge bonus). they are very active this time of year, and you can still get them on the fly this time of year. for sure check your streams, as things get icy though, they will hole up in the deepest holes on they way to the lakes.
