topcat3820
So, he doesn't like you, eh ??? Anyway, throw the bird back at your former boss... then fry the bacon up & eat it while you start working on your resume & looking over the career section of the paper . GatorBait
I hear they taste very similar to chicken. Not sure as they are illegal to hunt over here but someday I hope to find out.
buddha
We grilled stork(crane) this last week in Canada and it was FABULOUS! We also grilled the legs and they taste exactly like a turkey leg. We marinated the breasts in italian overnight and then slice the meat in 3/4 inch slices and grilled. You can use the same methods as goose or duck. Very tasty. Can't wait to have a chance next year. tacklejunkie
A guy gave me a Canada Goose a few years back and it was good so maybe a crane, being a migratory bird, would taste the same?
DonBo
I've had crane a couple times. Looks and tastes similar to venison if you ask me. We just cut it up and grilled it and it was very good. I do like the italian dressing marinade idea though.
Outfitter17
In my opinion Sandhill Crane if pretty good. The outfitter we stayed with this fall cooked some up for lunch one day and they were excellent. He just put a few in a roasting pan, added 6-7 cans of mushroom soup and put them in the over on low heat at about 5am before we left for the morning shoot. When we got back for lunch they were done. Here is a picture of a couple cranes we shot, along with a ton of geese taking off.
