Curl up with a good book

Recommended Posts

Now that the weather is cooling off, some of us like to curl up with a book and a blankie and vegetate for an evening. Or a morning. Or an afternoon. 'Good' is subjective, as everyone has different interests.

My recent readings have included a Nora Roberts novel, a bit of Jayne Ann Krentz, and yes, Lisa. I did read "The Boy in Striped Pajamas," which was riveting and sad.

So, what are you people reading? Any helpful hints? I've always wanted to belong to a book club, but the only one around here is full of really old women and meets during the day.

My books tend to go back and forth between crime novels and romance stuff. Anyone have a few recommendations?

Besides reading Medical-Surgical Nursing and Pharmacology and the Nursing Process, I've tried to keep up with my book club but still seem to be 2 months behind...I am currently reading the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig Larsson. It started super slow but is turning out to be a well, page-turner! grin

I found an author that I like, her name is Theresa Monsour. She writes about a female detective out of St. Paul. Another author that I really like is C.J. Box. I am all about the murder mysteries and devour them. Other authors are P.J Parrish and John Sandford, they too write about local crime fighters.

Hope

I've been reading Love Song and its pretty good. I thought I would read the book before I saw the movie for once. I like to do my reading laying in bed before I go to sleep, since my hubby (Rippinlip) works 3rd shift its a nice time to read without interuptions.

A couple more local mystery writers I enjoy are William Kent Kruger & Dean Hovey. Some of my other favorites lately are The Help by Kathryn Stockett; Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen; and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society / Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows.

Dana Stabenow writes a good mystery series set in Alaska.

The weather has been so nice that it's been hard to sit inside and read - the time will be here soon though I'm sure!

I recommend "Waiting for White Horses" by Nathan Jorgenson. It's set in and around Walker Mn. It's about a man who loves the outdoors especially duck hunting but it's more about his relationships with the people in his life.
