Remington 770 30-06

Thinking about buying the Remington 770 30-06... Can anyone give me some info on this gun? I know its a cheaper gun but i have heard that its a pretty accurate shooting rifle.. PROS and CONS please...

when people have trouble with them I call remington and they say "ship it to us right now" no questions asked if that means anything to ya. This gun is truly a case of getting what you pay for.

I went against the grain and bought one 3 or 4 weeks ago. I do love it. I have put abuot 200 round through it and it is a tack driver. I can shoot 1" to 1.25" patterns at 150 yards. I would try farther but do not have the room to do it.

Kind of a funkey gun but I can not complain for would I for the price.

I bought the 710 I think in 01. Been fine, accurate, but butt ugly. I did call remington on a problem with the stock and they sent the newer version 770 stock for no charge. Bottom line, its a decent cheap gun.

So many other choices than the 710/770 in the same price range that is better. Marlin XLS and XL7, savage, thompson... the 770 is disposable IMO. don't mean to rain on anyones parade, but its a disgrace that remington actually puts thier name on it.

I've heard good things about the Stevens 200 for a budget gun.

I was talking to a Gander employee recently. He had nothing but bad things to say about the 770. Lots of returns for repair. That is all I know.

I have heard of one 710 and one 770. The 710 had a broken trigger guard and the 770's clip fell apart the first day it was shot. The 770's bolt also seemed real sticky.
