Coon
Thinking about getting a underwater camera this year. Which one is the best out there and do they really show anything down in the 20 - 40' range???
Dark Cloud
Coon - Water clarity has a bigger play than depth from my experience. I have used mine down to about 40 ft on a clear lake with no problems. I dont use a camera much but they are a neat tool. I have an older Marcum 380 and have no complaints. This years line-up looks awesome. Waterproof flat-screen LCD's, on screen directional arrows, color and black n white, 3 times brighter screen... Thier remote directional panner is awesome and comes free with some of the models till the end of the year. Check out Marcum's web-site for more details( and/or ask here ) Where abouts in PA are you from? We fish quite a bit in NEPA...
Coon
Thanks for the info DC...I'm from the Northwest part of the state. I got a Marcum LX-5 and happy with that, but we fish this one lake alot thats loaded with panfish thats mostly under 15' and I think the camera would be the way to go there. Some places under 6'. Thought it would be kinda cool. Just didn't know how deep they would be worthy in deeper lakes.
fishman31
CoonIndeed you should not have an issue wth cameras at that depth. To shed a little light on this I like to use mine in eaarly venings situations and it seems to work well. I use the oldr 380 like DC as well. The new Vexilar camera has yet to be talked about. The Current marcum line are some proven sturdy units and lastly keep a watch some others may be on the way, I hope this has helped.
CNY Tim
If you go to Maki Plastics you will see some more videos taken with MarCum camera's. Granted there not shot with the Sony HAD II new line MarCum has out with but they give you a great look in weedy situations what you will encounter.. Dont be afraid to order some plastic while your in Maki's site he has great fish catching stuff. You can't go wrong with Maki's and Guppi's
