I haven't hunted ducks for years,There are few now a days. There was a law stating no firing from open water unless chasing a cripple and no motor was to be used.

The rule stated something like the boat must be concealed in a blind/hide.It may be in the Regs booklet yet??

for moose you can hunt out of a boat, but you can't shoot from the boat, you have to paddle or motor to where you can get out of the boat and shoot. it's considered a vehicle. i assume it would be the same way for other big game, if you wanted to go up/down a river looking for deer for example.

Many years ago I used a canoe to gain access down a ditch. Going back, with three in the canoe and a deer, it was low to the water, but the easiest way to retrieve the animal and we skirted private land. We never tried to shoot out of the canoe. The idea is appealing because water access is sometimes the best way to get to remote spots. While I can't comment on the legality of shooting out of a boat, powered, or paddled, I have wondered about the effect of the motor fumes lingering on clothes and potentially spooking deer once I got to my spot. I can think of several areas where boating to would ease the access issues, and that is the reason I might do it.
