Wood for woodworking

This might not be the right place to post this, and if it isnt please point me in the right direction but I am trying to find a place west of the cities that sells rough sawn and dried wood for woodworking projects. I grew up in southeast minnesota and we where very spoiled with all kinds of places but now I live in Delano and I am having trouble finding some black walnut for a new peice of furniture I want to make. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to save myself a trip to drive back home and buy some material.

Thanks

Jon

There are several sawmills around the Buffalo area, but I doubt you will find any black walnut being cut around here. Delano/Buffalo is at the northern edge of the black walnut range. You can buy FAS kiln dried walnut at Youngbloods in Minneapolis but you pay a premium price for their nice product.

Try looking up the "Minnesota Woodworkers Guild" online. They have a newsletter that usually features some sources. Also, if you are from southern MN, you might try back home to find a mill or someone with a portable mill. There is MUCH more walnut available at that latitude.
