Finally got my new bow today!

Finally picked up my new bow today. Ended up with a Bear Showdown and holy cow what a difference from my old bow. Draw is much smoother and just feels so much better to shoot. Shot two groups of arrows and was inside a 50 cent piece. Little high, so I will have to adjust my sites, but dead on! This bow is only set at 60#, where as my old bow was set at 70#. I hope that 60# will be enough to do the job on a deer.

All in all, I am almost peeing myself with happiness!! smirk Can't wait to shoot more and get out in the woods! How many days til opening???????

Using appx numbers, your bow makes around 50lbs of KE and you only need 35lbs KE for a deer. When you consider some of the primitive equipment that has killed deer and other animals you shouldn't worry about whether your modern compound will have enough punch.

Congrats on the new bow. You've still got a couple weeks to get things dialed in. Good luck.

Yep, you'll be in fine shape as far as shooting a deer with that rig. It might sound counter intuitive, but shoot a heavy arrow (at least 400 grains). It'll slow your arrow down some, but you'll pack more punch (i.e., KE) and is totally worth the trade off.

I'd have no concerns with 50 lbs of KE, but 35 is awfully low...

Good luck! Put the arrow where you should and any discussions about KE will not matter!!!
