Radio Collared Bears

Recommended Posts

Nice rhyme, this is getting better and better. You're right the gift shop should be full of bear claw necklaces, foot ash trays and of course colars with ribbons attached. Starting to feel like maybe we're going to far. At the check out counter thats where the bear snack sticks will go, guaranted money maker.

We also need to cut our prices on the bear information being shipped to public schools..

'

Yes a 501(c093) is charging public school for receiving the propaganda they are trying to push on youths. Nope not a damage deposit but a actual cost and from a non profit thats raking in the $$$$$.

Ok Boar you got the position.

How about we sell dummy collars that can be put on research bears being subjected to humanizing study? Just think of how fun it would be to put the collars in a bulk rate box and send them around.. Hummmmmmmmmmm That would be fun..

Being they are auctioning off fecal matter lets come up with our own fecal offering we can call it Donna or Tim in a can!!!

Think of the market possibilites to baiters. We can just re label cans of old roy..

Lets also work on patronizing those that support all forms of legal harvest. I will be after reading the reply to the editor at the Echo.

We should have a board meeting out on Redlake this winter??

I think I'm feeling a little tear roll down my cheek. Never thought I have a job that I'd love so much. Making money and working as a volunteer, never thought it would be possible. The best thing is probally great benifits and tax relief. Perfect!

The Fellowship of the Crib it is.

Count me in....

It has had me thinking what if someone did have multiple observation sites elsewhere surrounding. Something that would NEVER get hunted and could be checked anytime by the DNR I bet many blingobears would eventually migrate to a more appealing food source site.... Actual study on can these bear be drawn away from human freindship.. WOuld they be willing to say bubye and go to another safe zone????

Yep only for testing. We could find out what is the best lure for each area we study. Which is ofcourse the ultimate test, draw out 5 blingos and you win the jackpot.

Hehehehehehe

Our new lottery game....Scratchoff the collared bears and show 4 researchers and win.

Whoa! alot happening while I was gone! Who's bringing the beer for the 1st gatherin' at the crib! Well on our way to 100,000 fans already!

Wait a minute... if we just start feeding around mid August, we likely don't even need that pesky permit with the DNR, we can just hang a little ol' sign up by the cabin with DL # on it!

We could contact jonny an kelly an see if they would be willing to host "The fellowship of the Crib" Good stuff Goose, LMAO! If ya scatch off a bear violating a resercher double the prize showen. too far? how about eating a resercher then.We could get a board going, ten bucks a square, on the dates when a ya draw away a bear to the testing site. If yer all in for the gathering, what time frame are we thinking? Or should we just post a new thread invitation, If were serious on this, Where would we go,Im open but the two main choices are LOW or Red Lake. an next year we could go to Milacs, so we could flip flop. Ideas an votes welcome, jk you can be the beverage cordinator, this would be awsome we can tailgate, March is an awsome time for good weather an tailgating. Boar

Whoa Whoa if we're talking a gathering at LOW or Red Lake Falls it better be Sept.1, no-qouta or something. Its tough to make it bear hunting let alone the first annual fellowship of the crib. My wife is definitely not going to understand this. How would you start a facebook page for something like this?

It would be a ice fishing gathering HH, bring you wife, an it would be at LOW or Red Lake, not red lake falls. This would be afer bear hunting an the honey do list is caught up, my thoughts are in march, you have a good chance of having real decent weather to BBQ an be outdoors an fish rathre than battle the elements in Jan. an Feburary gets tough fishing an ya have to work harder for them. My 2 cents. Boar

Since this could grow.

There should be a show of faith like a copy of the letter you sent to various officials in regards to controlling the Evil Empire thats turning good bears into Four legged Food belly Zombies..

Talk about unethical to many are forgetting this guy cohearsed healthy NORMAL bears turning them into fearless people accepting pets.

How ethical is the altering manipulation of a wild animal for dollars..

I have a hard time accepting the fact anyone that knows "wildlife" could actually agree that there's Intell coming out of that Pay per View.

You know I was looking at the bear regs to see if a guy could hunt in Voyagers Nat. Park since I usually hunt within a couple miles from ther anyway. Everytime I see the pictures of how to identify a collared bear it makes me sick. Really turns my stomach to see that bear sitting there with all the decor wrapped around its throat. I feel sorry for it. Whats the saying if you love it, let it go. I wish I could make these people wear a collar like that. Maybe start doing research on the researchers.

Yes Cal was Killed before Sarah and now today on the FB Donation Dummy Manipulation page CAl is being remembered as a gentle cub. Many have already stated they will miss him..

The best part is most of those casting sympathy NEVER knew he exsisited probably untill his untimely unethical death was announced.....

After speaking with JK and others on the phone last night about how to handle this situation. We discussed many things and most agree the DNR should not waste its time or our money on things like the depleting Moose population OR the missing fishers. Thats why we have mothernature to handle petty issues. Because its obvoious the DNR NEEDS to spend enforcment money on crucial things such as bear/bear researcher complaint issues and protecting the growing healthy population of collared bears in this state. these bears are special and with their eye catching collars and ribbons this makes them less steath capable thusly these bears need to feed often and by many people. Our DNR knows this and is providing a special breed of people the rights to continue protecting the ever growing subspiecies of bear.. The Endangered Blingobear needs your donation dollars and support..

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Im proposing a whole new study.. The Fellowship of the Crib walleye research study. We should catch Tag and release several this spring in effort to protect a dwindeling species due to netting, predation and natural mortaltiy. We can also gather data relating to how bears and walleyes interact. Crucial to know because many walleye carcasses are eaten by many speicies of omniviours bears being one of those possible our study is needed to determine if the bears like shorelunch or cracker breading on the walleye ...

It would be VERY Unethical to disrupt our work with these monitored fish so Im asking that no one fish in the research area any longer so we may protect the few tagged and their genetic "family" in the school. Its crucial to understand the goings on between tagged fish and non tagged fish in how they react with each other and the bears.

PLEASE DO NOT FISH in the research area.. Area to be anounced for updates on restricted waters please check the Fellowship of the Crib thread for listing of those areas.... Thankyou for you cooporation during this study..

.......Fellowship of the Crib.......

Yep, just as silly as the research of humanizing bears and trying to take them away from the wild and protect them from hunters. The saddest part of the whole thing is if the DNR truely wanted to protect the wildlife they would put a stop to this kind of research where humanizing and facebook pages are a part of the research, but I am sure there is way to many dollars involved for that to happen!!!! mad

JB. I hope you're not angry with me. I'm not advocating the tactics this research group is using. I'm only stating there's been an obvious decline in this discussion. It's going nowhere, or maybe just downhill.

I think it's pretty clear that Roger's is using the media to drum up money from sympathetic followers. It's somewhat unethical, but it's not illegal. There are literally millions of people doing this. Look at "Whale Wars". I'd bet my life-savings that Animal Planet is getting paid big $$$ to film their "conservation" activities by the Save the Whales foundation itself. In turn, Save the Whales is increasing their incoming donations likely ten-fold, simply as a result of greatly increased exposure.

Like I said many pages back, there are far worse things being done to critters all over this world in the name of science.

I'm a lab scientist who is passionate about the outdoors, conservation, and I absolutely love hunting and fishing, but I don't support this facility. However, I do think there's room for sound research and data gathering - if done in an unbiased fashion. Which does not appear to be the case with the Ely Bear research center.

Sam, Not intended toward you. Just the whole concept of humanizing and putting them on face book. Sorry if you took it as towards you. I think research is fine, research only, not what is happening now and the more I learn about it the more it irks me.
