Musky_45
i was wondering if a guy can plant a food plot on land that is enrolled in crp or does a guy have to wait until the crp is up then just enroll less acreage. this is in ottertail county if that makes any difference. thanks in advance shawn earley
hockeybc69
Best to call your NRCS office and ask. Are you in west or east Ottertail county? There are some rules where you can plant some percentage of CRP in food plots.Call them and get the rules. jnorm1984
It depends on what CRP practice it is enrolled in. Only a couple allow food plots- So defiantly contact FSA or NRCS
BLACKJACK
I have food plots within my CRP, I told them I wanted a food plot when I signed up and they said ok. I think 5% of the total acreage can be food plots. It also depends on the CRP practice you have signed up for, if its a buffer strip practice, you can't put the food plot in the buffer strip, it has to be on another part of the CRP. My newer CRP was a Pheasant habitat practice, so they let me put in bigger food plots - but I took less money to sign up for that practice vs the general CRP sign-up. In hindsite I could have bought a lot of shelled corn for the difference. Talk to your local NRCS. I think there is a CRP sign-up going on right now, until Aug. 31.
