Matt Breuer
The liquid smoke probably brought them in, and the special recipe probably kept them in!
cherokee
I had my mazda (commuter car) filled with about a thousand pounds of bait when I went up last Friday. It still smells like a greasy bait station. My wife thinks I'm crazy. The back end was dragging and people were flashing me even though I had the low beams on. I left my 4 wheeler up North and make runs with the mazda to save on gas. My way to be green I guess
bogwalker
Wait until you stuff that big old bear in that car. Now we are talking green. Just make sure you keep the windows open.

x1957x
cherokee, I think you had room in the corner of the trunk for 1 hostess hoho if you rammed it in with a jackhammer!! hahahahaha hows baiting going? --57--
cherokee
I utilized that space with two 40 lb boxes of licorice and orange gummies. Had to jump on the trunk to get it shut. So far one of 4 sites getting hit and hopefully will have some more hits soon. For some reason two of the 4 pits always take at least one week to get opened up. Once they are open the bears stay put though.57 how about for you?

But at least I have bear activity an just gota be patience an let them make the scent trails. Lotas of time for mr. big or at least mr. freezer bear to show up. later boar
jerkbait
Boar, you don't need photobucket any more, you can use the link that has been added. It is the one with the blue arrow pointing up.

cherokee
Ok so far 2 of 4 bait sites getting hit. There will be three of us hunting. With two of us hunting opening and the third guy hunting week after. I opened two myself and the other two guys each opened one. I'm wondering if I should set out a couple more baits as back up and how late is too late. The plan is to really bait it hard the week preceeding opening. I know it's too early to hit the panic button and I'm betting all four sites will be hit by opening.Do I set up a couple more spots I have baited in the past and see if they get hit. What do you all think?
Boar
if ya got time an can hit them all with time to spare, I'd say let'er buck, if I could manage it the more the merrier, as long as your not pushing to late, the thing to consider when baiting multiple sites is that the one that gets hit last, say for example 5 to 5:30, well mid to late september you dont have much time left before dark, so you just might have all you can handle right now. the later the season, the earlier the sun sets, whats getting baited two hours before sunset is now getting baited 45 minuets beore sunset, as an example. Something to think about. Hey maybe youll tag out early an be done with it. Good luck boar.
cherokee
Yah that's a good point. I may try one more bait that's not too far out of the way (4 miles). Or just stick with the 4. Build it and they will come. I think that makes the most sense and hit it again later if I need to. After Wisconsin archery opener. Thinking out loud. Thanks boar. How are your baits going?
