I've seen posts like that on other websites as well, tied to the original Droid.

It seems there's an odd setup for the headphone jack, where it's not really a sleeve that the headphones click into, but rather a series of rings.

Somehow static or something else triggers these rings to think that you're sending a signal to the phone, even though it's in sleep mode.

That link had some people talking about a widget called block headset, so I downloaded that. Some people have had it work, some haven't.

I'll see what happens.

For now I and my wife have an understanding that if she gets a call from me, but I don't talk or leave a message, it was just my phone calling her. I'd rather have that, than some client hearing my mower run full throttle after I supposed butt dial.

The 31 hp diesel Kubotas are not quiet.

I would suggest getting a belt holster. that way its protected and not at risk for button pushing in your pocket

It happens in the pocket as well as in a holster. What happens is the headphone jack gets bumped ever so slightly and it'll trigger the actions.

People online have it happen when it's in a car dock and go over a speed bump if they have the wire plugged into the radio.

I got an incredible last night. I work in I.T. and conisder myself to be pretty tech savy, but the cheap frugal part of me has been putting off paying for the data plan blah blah blah.

Well all I can say is, WOW I cant believe I waited this long. Havent been too productive at work today smile

To those who don't know what that means: You can fully edit windows to basically look the way you want it to look, do what you want it to do and disable just about any feature. One I hate is push internet. The internet is always running in the background constantly draining your battery. Since ive done a few registry hacks ive extended my battery life by at least 25% if not more.

Through one of the links to the other Droid forums, whether dot com or dot net, I can't remember.

One of the posters talked about a widget called "Block Headphones".

I downloaded it and ran it today and didn't have the above issue once today.

I worked about 6 hours.

I have 10-12 hours of mowing tomorrow, so we'll see if this widget takes care of my issue, or if it was just that I didn't bump the headphone jack just right.

I thought of you today as I pocket dialed someone when I was mowing smile I got a text message which unlocked my phone and the bumps and speed of me mowing at mach 1 hit some buttons and left a fellow FM'r a nice long 5 min message of me mowing and yelling at the dog to get out of the way.

Downloaded Tune in Radio at lunch, finally found that app.

Now I can get KQ, 1500 ESPN, basically any station that isn't clear channel.

I was listening on 1500 ESPN to the Twins game until about the second inning. The whole time I was kicking myself for buying the MLB app to listen to the games, thinking that "what? the games are broadcast on 1500 ESPN's stream?" But then someone must have realized they forgot to flip the switch because it went off the air.

I worked for 12 hours today and the phone never once called anyone. Looks like my "block headset" widget works (knock on wood!).

That's a good tip with that tune in radio. Wely is on there and the loon. Yay! I like the noaa radio too. Handy app, better than trying to deal with a bunch of websites for streaming radio for sure. Presets and everything. Gonna listen to wely a lot now, I missed that a lot from when I moved to the cities.

Wow, that app is crazy! Looks like it was just released a few days ago?

It even has NOAA weather radio and a lot of other specialty stations/shows. The audio quality is very good as well.

Nice find!

Yes, the audio quality is as good as listening over the air, even better for the AM stations.

That's one thing I don't like about the MLB app, you get the "satellite feed" sound, where there's aquite a bit of hissing and the "s" whistles and drives a guy's ears to bleed.

Iheartradio and the MLB app both are somewhat choppy, but Tune In Radio is pretty solid.

I have been very unhappy with the quality of my phone conversations with my Incredible. Its absolutely awesome for apps, internet etc, but I need this to be a phone first and foremost and I am very unhappy with the quality of the phone calls. One call it works great the next call people complain that they cant hear me, or I get really loud and then quiet again.

Sometimes I even just set the phone down, talk on the speaker phone with the same results, same position same location and its different each time. Some calls work great, others not so much.

My girlfriends phone has EXACTLY the same problems you speak of rundave. I am not even sure what her phone is. I just know its an android phone. This is the one main reason I HATE android phones. Several of my friends have androids and the apps are endless and pretty neat but when it comes down to phone function... lets face it they blow!

Dropped calls, dropped signals, volume issues. When ever we go up north the phone goes whack? I think its because the towers aren't up-to-date as they are down here. It often times reboots, freezes, and randomly gets a bunch of messages at once like it didn't have service when it did.

I have been right next to her when we both have full signals. I call her and poof she doesn't even receive a call. I call her mom, and it rings right though. We all have Verizon and we are all in the same room.

It got to the point where I actually do not even call her anymore. just text her. She has been thinking about returning the phone....

I would not be happy specially if it was a business oriented phone not knowing if I am receiving all my calls or not.

Hands down, in my book androids are as good as a paper weight........

I will stick with a regular phone or a non android smart phone. Go windows mobile!!!!

There always seem to be a trade off when upgrading OS's? Just makes a guy learn and wait to upgrade later to read the reviews first. IMO that does bite, but in the case with Apple, it can also mean the difference between a working phone or being force to upgrade. smirk

The mother in-law is ordering her new Droid X this week. Between Dtro and the reviews here and other friends I have who have upgraded already, I told her it is a great phone and if I had Verizon the Droid X would have been the phone I would be getting as soon as an upgrade comes to town. wink On the weekend of Sept. 11th, I was able to sit down for around an hour playing around with a buddies Droix X.

I should be getting my Droid X today. I think I'm going to have a busy weekend playing with it. Good thing the misses is out of town. I wonder if my garage will clean itself or if my venison jerky will smoke itself?
