thatoneguy
I have a buddy from Tennessee who sings in a group that will be performing in Brainerd in late September this year. I usually take him golfing the morning of the show, but this year he said he wants to do some fishing instead. We'll probably have 4-5 hours to fish. What lake would be a good bet for some LMB action within 20 minutes or so of Brainerd, and what kind of presentations are usually good that time of year? blakjack23
Lots and lots of lakes within 20 minutes of there....take your pick. Jigs and slow rolled spinners work great in the fall.
thatoneguy
*bump* I'll get a guide if I have to as I really want to get my friends on some fish, but $250-$300 for a four hour trip is pretty steep for a guy in my tax bracket. Not to mention that I might find the locks changed when I got home
Deitz Dittrich
I have never fished it late sept.. WOuld love to be able to help.. I can only point you towards some lakes I have done well on. These are in no real order. North Long, Hubert, Sylvia. Then there is Gull, which can be great, and not so.. I seem to do better in the connecting lakes.. IE Roy, Nisswa ect.. I wish you the best.. and wish I could help better.
thatoneguy
I appreciate the thought, Deitz. Meat Run gave me the name of a good guide, so I have that as a fallback. I really wouldn't mind spending a few hours (and the dollars) with a top-notch guide and learning a few things and also not having to mess with pulling my boat back and forth. But considering my newfound addiction has taken me from zero bass gear three months ago to three rods & baitcasting reels and a tackle box full of stuff...well, I have to balance what would be nice with what will maintain harmony at the homestead

I gotta tell you that lake can rock and roll if there is a ten mile an hour breeze!
