Boar
Hye nik, yea liquid smoke works great, i have used it in spraY bottel an squirted into trees. A quick an light weight way to get scent airborne. I'm into the carmel extream right now, holy smokes, I have two 4 oz bottle shiped to me an their just sitting on teh shelf in the shop, an my shop smells like dairy queen. You use 2 oz to five gallons of fryer grease, an holey smokes talk about odiferous maximus, cant wait to burn it, squirt it, spread it, drip it an just plain use it. he with the best bait wins. Later boar.

CANOPY SAM
It's gonna a be a tough year to compete, not "complete", with the berry crop. The heavy rains we received in May and June have spurred an abundance of wild Blueberries, and Raspberries. I'd imagine there will be tons of other forage as well.If I were baiting bear this year, which I won't be, but if I were I'd go heavy on molasses. It's cheap, easy to get, easy to apply in various ways, and you can smell it from miles away.I don't disagree that bear can smell stuff from a long way off, but I also don't disagree that the best bait wins. Especially in areas where there's competition between bait sites. Make a thin, watery mixture of molasses water and pour it into a super soaker. Then spay it way up into the canopy of trees, and on the trunks of trees all around your bait site. Any bear that passes down wind of your site for many miles will catch wind of this and come to investigate.Mix heavy molasses in corn, oats, and other yummies in your bait pile and you'll do just fine.Another option is making up blackcherry coolaid for your supersoaker. Strong, sweet scents will get them interested. Just remember to refreshen up your site every few days to keep the scent strong and bring in more than one bear. Competetion between bears for one site in the ultimate goal.
Boar
That carmel extream is a heavy concentrate liquid mix, i to thought that maybe use fresh unused fryer grease but, so i called bill at bear scents an hasent gotten back to me, seems to be running oreders all over Michigan lately, so I went ahead an put two oz in to used fryer grease an HOLY Willie Wonka Carmel Factory Batman. Brad Hering knows what he's doing with scents, he just partnerd with bill wiesner, these guys know what their doing. Boar
fowldreams
BoarHow much of the caramel extract do you spray at each baiting? And to answer a previous thread I also cant wait for the hardwater season.Fowldreams
Boar
U can be librel with it cause of the mass amount it makes, but to make the moset of it I'm gonna soak a huge wad of bread in a gunny sack in the stuff an hang it or dog food, then refresh it in a bucket of it each time I bait. Spendy stuff but worth it, if ya make cheap bait thats what you get, cheap bait. The natural element of morning dew will quickly dissapate a cool aid mixture even liquid smoke but thats a concentrate also an is a little tougher, Hmmmm just gave me an idea FD . You want stuff that is hardy an holds up for awhile, Altthough nothing can stand against a good rain, your chances are better with stuff ment for baiting. Hey welcome to the forum. Matt Breuer
Anyone ever tried burning citronella? I've read and heard that bears love it...
cherokee
Carmel sounds good. Boar, about the scent ball, once the mixture reaches 300 take it off. Once you make one its pretty easy.Citronella sounds interesting and it should work at least as a curiosity scent.
Boar
Wow you have been gone for awhile forgot about that one, but thanks. I have never heard of citronella used for attractiing bear, might be a good question on the camping forum, but ya might not be able to tell if it was the citronella campers use or the food they cook. I tell ya Cherokee, this carmel stuff is crazy, I also took five lbs of honey out of the cupboard, yea i know, five pounds, long story. An added about a teaspoon an Man is that gonna make an awsome burn. Boar
