loosegoose
I'm looking into purchasing a food strainer mainly for canning tomatoes. Does anyone have any recommendations? manual crank or electric. Thanks.
harvey lee
We peel all of our tomatoes, cook them and then I squish them in my hands to reduce the size. If I want it chunker, then I do not squish to much.No peels and I get it the size I want for either tomstes for say chili or a bit thicker for salsa. We have even made tomato juice this way but its a little more work.It goes fast an I have neer even thought of a strainer. archerystud
I just put the tomatoes in a blender with the skins on. Then I just blend them up and cook them. Don't really notice the skins after I open up a sealed can.
Prairie Hunter
Just put the tomatoes in boiling water for a couple minutes and than put them in cold water and the skin peals right off. I freeze them like that and use them in soups. It is really easy.
