Anybody else not fish the opener?

Sorry, but if you don't fish the openner in some way shape or fashion you are not "Hardcore" or even a "Softcore" angler but a form of fair weather fishergirlyman.
"Oooooooh I might have to wait at the ramp. Oooooooh I might get claustrophibic with all those boats around me. Ooooooooh I might be around people that are more clueless than I am."

The DNR should issue you a pink licence and make you pay the same price as a non-resident because you aren't really a true Minnesotian, you are just fishergirlymen!

Opener, If you like to fish the opener, have great fishing, beautiful lake vistas, no big crowds, hook up your rig, and head for the real UP NORTH. Fish Kabetogama on the border, it's great up here and few stories like I am reading from all of you. Good Luck Fishkab

Yup, a sharp flaming stick in the eye sounds about as much fun as fighting for a shot at a busy MN lakes boat ramp this weekend.

Lots of rivers in MN, most will not see much use/presure on the MN "O-pun-r".

Yup..ya know where I'll be Scoot.

If I was not working this weekend, I would be in Canada..Eh.

Hey Basspastor, you made my day. smile.gif

I haven't missed an opener in 40 years, a few extra boats on the lake won't keep me at home. smile.gif

The crowds at the ramps and at the bait shop are all part of the experience for me, I Love it!

I can't emagine waiting all winter for it and then not going, I'd go nuts just
knowing everybody else is out there and I'm not.

My grandson will be going out with "The Guys" for the first time this year, and I wouldn't miss it for the world. smile.gif

No, there ain't no girlymananglers at my house this year. smile.gif

You live in one of the (if not the) all around best fishing states in the USA...

I ENCOURAGE YOU TO STAY AT HOME....

Leaves more ramp space and less whinning for the rest os us...

FInd it hard to believe that a person would let the "opener" be a deterant to them catching fish when they can...

You live in a metro area with great fishing, many people would live to have the opportuinity you do... get over it.

See the forecast!!! It's suppose to be rainy! I'm lovin' it! Last year when it rained all day saturday, I was the only one on the lake catchin walleyes. Not very many, but I was the only one!!!!! Doesn't make any difference. It's all about the excitement and anticipation. Get out and fish!

Hey luckyfish, you wouldn't be donning the waders and fishing a dam, would you? I've done the waders at midnight thing for years, and it's hard to beat a dam in the early season. Fish all night, sleep all day, you said it. Opening day? Heck, give me opening night anytime.

Well, seeing as how my school decided to schedule finals a week later this year, i am going to miss the opener for the first time ever. Don't they look into these things when they make the schedules?? You would think that they would........

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
