I have no ideas why Chris. Maybe I had a bad spot that was not exposed when I bend the hook.

I would not have spent about a hondo for new line for all, my reels if it was not needed.

Does not really matter why as I have not had a problem since changing so that solved that issue.

I will say all the issues I have had, and seen, were all on 65# test. On my spools, I could actually see a flaw about every 6 feet or so in the line, that is when, and why I replaced it. All of the issues I seen, and heard that others were having, was all on the 65# as well. They may have fixed the issue, they may have not, but I switched to Suffix 80# and the line is just plain better. I realize I am comparing 65 to 80, but just the look of the line, feel of the line, and the lack of breaking for no reason, I just dont see any reason to ever try the line again, unless Suffix lets me down some how. But, 3 years, without as much as a " why did my line break so easy" statement, after having the same statement about every 2-3 trips out. It's a no brainer!

Speaking of line---has anyone used the red Spiderwire braid in 80# or have any reports on the quality?...

I like PowerPro and have used it for yrs and still run a few rods with PP. A couple yrs ago I started using Suffix and have been very happy with it. I do believe Suffix is better then Powerpro.
