bucketmouth64
Any suggestions in constructing a temporary wall in a townhome to enclose an area for a bedroom? Don't want to nail up a wall. About a 10' width. Room would be temporary until he can move into the other befroom. Right now the space is used as a sitting area. Townhome was constructed if another bedroom was needed to be added this would have been the spot.
11-87
is it to be built in an unfinished basement? or what is the exact situation.. is it to be in a finished room??
Surface Tension
Cheap and easy, room dividers. If you want a temp stud wall you'll have to anchor a bottom plate to the floor and a top plate to the ceiling. Use screws in both locations. At the ceiling use a block or wood at both ends and one in the center, screw them in. Attach your top plate to that. That should create the least amount of damage to the ceiling. At the bottom plate angle a screw at both ends toward the base, that will leave a hole that is not noticeable and can be filled when the wall is removed. At the door way you really need the bottom plate anchored at both sides of the door. Again screws there. Now fill in the opening with studs by toe nailing them into the top and bottom plate. Instead of nails you'll pre-drill and use screws. There is no need to attach the studs to the wall.

Upper level open loft area. Area can be enclosed for a third bedroom, three finished walls with a window. Found out the other day that a triple light switch is in the way of a wall that would butt up to enclose the room.

BorderView
For short term use without privacy as a huge priority, I would hang a rod and string a curtain
Surface Tension
Yes usually three panels that are hinged. A curtain would work too.
