soo line trails

I ride a segment of that line, Pierz/Genola to Onamia. I like it. It has varying scenery from farm pasture to heavy trees,(almost like riding in a tunnel), to open wetland. There is a campsite right near the trail in Genola on Hwy.25. I've seen camper trailers there, likely has power/showers although I'm not certain.

It is easy riding, no challenges on that old railway. Nice scenic ride.

There is also a small campground right in the city of Pierz not to far from the Soo Line trail. wink

We have camped in Moose Lake and journied over to the Soo Line, it was just on the NW side of town and then the Soo pits are just a few miles away.

Out of Moose Lake you have a choice to go to the Soo Line North or the Soo Line South.

There is 2 branches to this trail, North goes up to Cass Lake and the South goes from Royalton to Superior, Wisconsin.

Moose Lake is kinda the central location.

Overall it is a railway bed, kinda boring for some. It has alot of rock that will beat the heck out of your tires. If I am going to ride it again I will be taking the mudders off and put my stock tires back on. I took some tread off the tires and I did not ride on there very far.

Just a quick note:

It's often been said the Soo Line South goes to Superior, but it ends a few miles away. From what I've heard in the past, there is no trail that actually goes into Superior off the Soo Line and if you attempt to cross over into WI, it would be a good idea to have the WI trail sticker.

I've never been that far on the Soo Line to have personally experienced it. Just going from what other riders have told me.

My folks ride the Soo Line a couple times a year. They have gone from Genola to Moose Lake and stayed at the hotel there. They also drove to Mcgregor and stayed at a nice hotel there.

What others have said, Pierz has a campground on Hwy 25, but no showers there. The campground by the golf course in Pierz does have showers and bathrooms.
