What to do with Old Rods?

delmuts

Question

I have a couple of muskie rods that are just sitting around( one is 7'-6" the other is 7'-2") that i don't plan on ever using. To stiff for much else other than muskie and they are lower grade rods. In this area i don't know of any where i could donate them. I was planning on tearing them down so i would have extra guides, tips, and hook keepers since those things are getting costly. Any better ideas?

I think Ron Schara used to have a bin at some sporting stores where you drop old rods in, and he has somebody give them "tune up" (fix stuff) and then he gives them to kids who can't afford them. Not sure, but I recall dropping some old rods in there are Gander stores maybe, or Joes.

I just hang my older ones on the wall in my man cave with the rest of my older decoys and stuff. Pretty cool when they're used as story starters during poker games and such.
