Defensive fishing

Another angle on this is the fact that even if the "other" spot gets fished, it doesnt mean the fish are gonna be there for the others that fish it. Or for that matter, that they see something they want to eat.

I was in a small local tourney last summer and there is one section on the lake that I was deadset that I was going to get bass early. We raced over there and we had one other boat in the area as well. Neither of us caught a single bass there. I was very shocked.

We moved elsewhere, and I watched that spot from time to time during the day, and there were always boats in there. Basically it was pounded hard all day. With a half hour left, the spot was open, and my hunch told me to go try it. Within 5 minutes, we caught 4 or 5 bass and one of which was a 19 incher.

Moral of the story. Your other spot may get fished, but it doesnt mean fish are being caught.
