0 Ed Carlson
Call the fishing manager at your local Gander Mountain, they may be able to help you out. You will need to bring in the unit. If it is not too old a unit they may be able to assist you with the update process. I recommend you call them first and discuss the model and update needed...doing your homework first is very helpful. At our GM store here in Fargo we try to keep the most current updates on hand as best as we can for the top sonar/gps lines for customers. 0 Rippin_eyes
http://www.lowrance.us/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/now make sure that you dont just copy and paste the download that you did.... you need to click on that download and it will go through an installer menu
0 hoppe56307
Yeah, I had gone through all of that and I still could not get the updates to install to my GPS, everything seems to get saved on to my SD card but when I go to the unit itself the updates do not install. 0 uglystick007
Which model Lowrance? Some of the older ones can't read SD cards over 512MB or was it 1GB.
0 eelpout#1
you download the update file to your computer, open the .exe file, which opens into 3 different files. The 3 different files are what goes on you SD card, which goes into the card reader on your Lowrance unit. It had me confused also for a while. Read the installation instructions carefully. 0 hoppe56307
Which model Lowrance? Some of the older ones can't read SD cards over 512MB or was it 1GB. I have the 522ci, the current version that it is on is 1.4 so i am wondering if that does not have something to do with it.
0 eelpout#1
I have the 522 also and just updated my software version to 2.5.0 or whatever the Lowrance HSOforum has, from the 1.4.0 version. I used a 2 GB card, so I don't think that was the problem. I also got on the water for the first time since the upgrade and I can tell you that I was swearing when I put the boat in and saw the flashing 1.4 ft reading on the screen, but once I got into deeper water it seemed to work just fine, it's the really shallow situations that worry me. Guess I'll have to use the 522 as a GPS mapping only and use the old Eagle, which work in any depth of water in any conditions, as my depth finder. 0 walleyemaniac
There are menu changes on that update one is for shallow water, stained water... I'm still getting use to to the update as well, just scroll around in the menu you'll find the setting. Hope that cures your problem. There is another post on here about the 522 and I think those guys ended up replacing their transducers as well.Mine worked fine with just the update. 0 PeteA34
Make sure you format the sd card on FAT and not FAT 32. It will not work. I messed with this issue for 20min yesterday. Most new SD cards are not FAT. You can format them on for computer to FAT, the default is FAT 32 and you will have to change this.
