Bottom Bouncers are a main stay for me. Biggest hint is to use a heavier bouncer than some may think. Keep your line at 45 degrees or so. Never drag them. They should just be tapping bottom every so often.

One example is all weekend we had a tourney and we ran 3 oz. bouncers and big spinners in 3'-8' of water in the St. Louis River. We were in weeds a lot and the bouncers help to keep weeds off the spinners. We still did a lot of weed cleaning but a lot was off the bouncers.

Bouncers that heavy arent a hold in your hand deal for too long so get some nice rod holders if you dont have them already.

I also do not like bottom bouncers with just the bend on the top where you attach your line. I like the twisted loops. That way I can use a snap swivel to the bouncer and its easier to switch out bouncers than tieing direct and having to cut all the time.

Hope that helps a bit if not e-mail me and Ill answer more for ya.

I use the "pencil" type bouncers most often. Get the kind with the little black plastic tube to run your line through before attaching it to the bouncer. This is great for the light biter that you want to feed some line to and let him have it for awhile before setting the hook. Use them all the time on the Missouri, but have found myself using them more and more on local lakes as well.

I have found that if you add a floating jig or a small in line float to the spinner rig, it will keep you hook out of the weed more so then with out it. I use the "L" shape bouncer usually the 5/8 to 1 oz.. Early seaseon it works well on the lake, until the weeds come in.

we usually ran 1 oz standard but when the waves got rough we went up to 2-2.5 if needed. A lot will also depend on the snell you run behind it as well 2ft-7ft snells, that was more important then the size of the bouncer
